Amy Boyea is a partner in the firm’s Dallas/Ft. Worth office. Her practice focuses on civil and commercial litigation, including financial services litigation; life, health and disability insurance litigation; factoring litigation; business torts; employment-related litigation; and construction and energy industry litigation. Amy has experience defending personal injury and insurance liability claims, and extensive litigation experience in state and federal courts and before arbitration panels. She has represented her clients in state and federal courts throughout Texas and in states including Arizona, Arkansas, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Florida, Illinois, Maryland, New Jersey, New York, Oklahoma, Ohio, Oregon, Virginia and Wyoming.
Amy represents financial services companies in cases involving premium financing, welfare benefit and defined benefit pension plans, agent and broker compensation, unfair settlement practices, credit life and disability, market conduct, bad faith insurance claims, viatical litigation and breach of contract. Amy acts as national counsel for some of the nation’s largest insurers in actions relating to secondary market transactions of life and annuity products.
Amy is actively involved in her community, serving as a cub scout den leader, a chairperson for the annual Hollywood Nights benefit for First Presbyterian Preschool, and as a booth organizer for the Saint Maria Goretti Catholic School Kountry Karnival, among other activities.
Prior to becoming a partner at Edison, McDowell & Hetherington, Amy was a trial attorney at Bracewell & Giuliani LLP.

Representative Matters

Represents numerous life, health and disability insurers in first-party litigation matters throughout Texas and around the country.
Represents insurance company defendants in purported class actions and individual cases involving Sections 412(i) and 419 of the Internal Revenue Code.
Represented employers and insurers in employee benefit and insurance matters in various jurisdictions throughout the United States, including ERISA actions involving benefit claim disputes.
Successfully obtained dismissals for multiple insurance carriers and employers under ERISA for claims alleging wrongful denial or termination of benefits.
Represented a major energy provider in a weeklong trial relating to the alleged breach of a defense and indemnification agreement.
Represented an energy provider in a multimillion dollar arbitration focusing on the construction of an LNG gas plant and involving numerous claims and counterclaims for breach of contract and negligence.
