Alana Pulaski practices general civil litigation focusing on commercial litigation matters, including business torts; energy industry disputes; life, health and disability insurance litigation; ERISA litigation; financial services litigation and products liability litigation.   Alana also has significant experience in shareholder and securities litigation, including representation of special litigation committees and boards of directors.  Alana represents geographically diverse clients in both state and federal courts across the nation.
Before joining the firm, Alana served as briefing attorney to the Honorable Justice Xavier Rodriguez at the Supreme Court of Texas and was a trial attorney at Bracewell & Giuliani LLP. While in law school, she served as Notes & Comments Editor for the Emory Law Journal.
Outside the office, Alana enjoys spending time with her husband and two children and is a distance-running enthusiast. She is also involved in community outreach programs through Becker Early Childhood Center and Congregation Emanu El.

Representative Matters

Represented Kinder Morgan Inc. and its independent directors in class action shareholder lawsuits pending in state court in Kansas and in state and federal court in Texas relating to Kinder Morgan's multibillion-dollar going-private transaction.
Represented Seitel Inc. and several members of its board of directors in class action shareholder litigation pending in Texas state court, alleging that the company and its board breached fiduciary duties pertaining to the sale of the company.
Represented W-H Energy Services, Inc., and its board of directors in connection with class action shareholder litigation filed to enjoin the acquisition of W-H by Smith International, Inc.
Represented Cornell Companies, Inc., and its board of directors in connection with shareholder class action litigation relating to a proposed buyout transaction.
Represented a special litigation committee of the board of directors of HCC Insurance Holdings in connection with an investigation of alleged improper accounting and management practices within the company.
Represented Calpine Corp. in arbitration concerning the proper operation of a cogeneration facility located near Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
Represented Calpine Corp. in litigation against a local retail electricity provider and obtained a multimillion-dollar judgment in favor of Calpine.
Successfully tried a complex commercial dispute to conclusion and obtained no liability verdict for PrimeSource Building Products, the largest purveyor of fasteners in the world and one of the largest distributors of building materials in North America.
Successfully opposed mandamus proceeding before the Houston Court of Appeals and Texas Supreme Court concerning a discovery dispute pertaining to discovery of personal financial information.
Successfully defended American United Life Insurance Company ("AUL") in a Fifth Circuit appeal challenging the district court's granting of summary judgment in favor of AUL in an ERISA-governed action.
Represented Assurant Health and various of its affiliated companies in numerous first-party health insurance litigation matters in Texas.
Represented American General Life Insurance Company and its various affiliates in a multitude of complex insurance and financial services cases around the United States.
Represented The Phoenix Companies in connection with a wide variety of litigation matters around the country.
